DUAL:workshop is an award-winning interdisciplinary design studio, which was founded in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2007 and has operated out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since 2008. While our practice focuses primarily on architecture and urban design, we strongly believe in the integration of all design disciplines and have experience in graphic design, landscape design, urban policy strategy, and social media strategy. We also frequently collaborate with other design studios and individual consultants to bolster our expertise in other areas, including computational design and advanced fabrication techniques.
In addition to our professional practice we maintain an active research agenda, through teaching, writing, and community outreach. Our founding principal, Phillip M. Crosby, is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the Tyler School of Art of Temple University where he teaches courses in contemporary architectural theory, modern architectural history, architectural design, and urban design.
By exploring the duality of the design professions—the practicality of building and applied design combined with the conceptual and critical thinking of research and teaching—DUAL:workshop offers its clients a sophisticated and in-depth understanding of the built environment and our place within it.
